Abstract: 
Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation for ion-acoustic cnoidal wave and soliton are derived using the reductive perturbation method (RPM) in unmagnetized plasma consisting of ions and nonthermal electrons. The effect of nonthermal electron on the characteristics of the cnoidal wave and soliton are discussed in detail. It is found that increasing the nonthermal parameter, the amplitude of the cnoidal wave and soliton increases.
